We're Fully Invested ...

There's something about Autumn. To a woman and mother things come to mind like back-to-school shopping or canning season. At least that's what I was aware of growing up. However, being married to Thomas has shed a whole new light on what it means when it's Autumn. Two words sum it up thoroughly....

College Football.

Indeed, according to Thomas, there's a change in the air. Suddenly a reason to be happy every day. Time to not miss one day of Sports Radio. And the joy and happiness he revels in to be able to do laundry and sit and watch football all day Saturday. You know his mind...his ability to remember every little statistic and detail...you can imagine what I learn on an hourly basis during football season. :)

From a wife's perspective, what I likle most is knowing my husband is fully invested in something that could be thought of as inspiring, motivational maybe even transcendently blissful.

So we are fully invested - as a family - in BYU football, and a few other things that promote family togetherness.

Take, for example, putting family first for one day. Thomas is so fully invested in his family, that he suffered through the torture of having to wear the dreaded Utah red for the sake of keeping peace in the family.

Putting color aside, a great time was had with the Bore Boys for a weekend of football and tailgate parties and other nonsense, I am sure.

Now that November is here, the Holy War beckons when not even blood comes before our Full Investment in the powerhouse of tradition, honor and spirit. You see, it all boils down to "accountability, discipline and effort" (according to Coach Bronco Mendenhall).

To that end we are raising our son right. Aiden has his "football shirt" and "football pants" and just tonight, proudly told the Costco Helper that he was wearing his "football shirt." He's learning the Cougar Fight Song and loves to yell "Go Cougars!" We think he's ready for November 24.

We are.
