First Day

School started this week at SPU and it got me to thinking about my first day of college. Yes, the picture above is me and my roommate, Laurie. Yes, my hair is big and my bangs are tall. I already know it so you don't need make any snide remarks about it if you leave a comment.

Since we live close to campus and all of the dorms, our quiet summer ended when the suburbans and vans ascended onto campus with parents coming by to drop off their kids and all of their stuff. Cars now zoom up and down our street and most days it's hard to find a parking spot on our street with all of the student traffic back.

I got in the car and drove down past the school the other day. I had to stop several times for students crossing the roads and I couldn't help but think back to my first days at Snow College....some of the best days of my life. I so loved going to school there.

I remember how excited I was to start school. I loaded everything in Jammin' Blue and didn't look back. I went home every so often, but it was only to grab some toilet paper or do a quick load of laundry. I remember my mother feeling bad that I didn't even come home over General Conference weekend, and now, I would give anything to be home over General Conference weekend, and truthfully, close enough to swap some toilet paper every now and then too!

I often think of the poor people who lived above us. They probably never got any sleep. We were obnoxious and noisy, usually staying up until 4 in the morning. I don't know how I did it back then.

What a great time of life! College days. I look back on them fondly with so many great memories. How I wish every once in a while I could revisit those days back at good old Mountain View Apartments. Now, there would be a whole book of blog posts with stories and memories.

Hmm, I'll have to think about tackling that at some point.
