A busy day

Today was such a nice day outside, and we started working in the yard. We tore out some bushes and huge overgrown fern plants so we would have some room for our garden. We're experimenting wtih container gardening. We're growing lettuce, bok choy, swiss chard, squash, carrots, onions, beans and tomatoes.

Aiden was such a good helper. He was completely content to just play in the dirt and mud and I can tell we're going to be spending a lot of time outside this summer.

At the end of the day we were completely wiped out. I was laying on our bed with Aiden, telling him some stories. Thomas crashed on the bed with us and in a few minutes we were all half asleep on the bed together when Aiden whispered, "Tell me more stories. Mom, you be the princess. Daddy, you be the snake and I'll be the train conductor. Read it!" And he wanted each of us to take on those role and tell a story. It was so totally random and so funny. We laughted about it and then fell asleep.

I'm so excited about having a garden! I'm excited to see how much of a green thumb is in me. Hopefully Aiden will leave it alone and not dig and play in the dirt, as he was so interested in doing today.
