All Time Favorite Summer Songs - #10

Tomorrow, June 21 marks the first day of summer. If I didn't KNOW it was June 21st I'd have a hard time believing it was summer since we've seen less than three days with temperatures over 75 degrees. No joke! We're welcoming in summer this weekend with temperatures in the 60s.

But anyway, I decided that it would be appropriate to kick off the summer season with something special. I briefly considered including the Fremont Summer Solstice Party as part of our kick off since it's close to our neighborhood....but since they have a NUDE BIKE parade I decided that it probably wasn't really for us! LOL Craziness.

So instead, I've cooked up a list of my Top 10 Most All Time Favorite Summer Songs. Yes, for the next 10 days you are going to be entertained with my most favorite summer songs, complete with a memory associated with each one.

So here goes Song #10....

I am completely embarrassed that this song is even on my list, but hey, I have to be completely honest in this, and at ONE TIME...many years ago....this song was THE ONLY song on the radio!

I was 15, going on 16. And I spent my summer going to early morning cheer practice, practicing my 4-H demonstrations and ...drum roll please...working at my Dad's farm driving a 2.5 TON drumptruck.

I drove that baby like it was my little White Ford Escort complete with hot pink pinstripes, hauling freshly cut hay from the fields back to the silage pit at the farm yard.

The boredom was tremendous, so the only thing I had to keep me going for eight hours every day was good old KMTI radio. Since that was the only station the truck's radio would pick up I didn't have much choice but to like Country Music.

And it was during this particular summer that Achy Breaky Heart was #1 for weeks and weeks, and I LOVED this song! I waited on the edge of my seat, while hay swirled all around me, listening for this song on the radio.

Just listening to it again tonight after, oh, more than 10 years brought back all of those memories of flying down the dirt farm roads, back and forth all summer long listening to this song. If you turn up your speakers, you'll be able to hear this gem playing at the top of my playlist. :)

It was a winner back then....and that's why it's earned spot #10 in my list of All Time Favorite Summer Songs.
