Favorite Summer Song - #6

Okay, this is where it gets fun. Most of the songs from here on out, I had a hard time deciding which one should be ranked next. And, just an FYI if you didn't know this already, if you turn your speakers on you can hear each of my songs playing. :)

One of the best things about living in a small town and being close to the mountains is the endless possibilities of summer fun up in the hills....camping, fishing, 4 wheeling, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, dutch oven cooking, firecrackers in the campfire, fixing breakfast, waking up to the sound and smell of campfire, making home made ice cream, playing cards. Oh, and did I mention I LOVE eating breakfast in the mountains?

My family fixes a mean breakfast when we're camping. Fresh hash browns, eggs, pancakes and, my personal favorite, crisp french toast. Mmmm, Mmmm. Delicious.

Back in the day, when I wasn't really tied down to anything but my job, I took a little camping trip with my friends Kerrie, Steve and Rick. I brought them down home and we spent a weekend up in the mountains. While we were driving around looking for a hidden fishing spot, this song started playing.

Now, I must mention that Steve's Pathfinder was nicely and amply equipped with a high-end sound system, so the bass on this song sounded incredible. I just remember driving along the bumpy, dusty road trying to find this fishing hole while we jammed out to "Steal My Sunshine" (LEN)

And little did I know that years down the road, this little guy would be MY Sunshine.

I love the melody...it sure makes every summer day feel like a happy, sunshine day.

So now, whenever I hear this song I think back on all of the good times up in the mountains.

One of my favorite memories was camping at the Ranger's Station. When we were little, we would leave the camper at the Ranger Station. Our favorite spot was parked right up against a little hill, and there were so many great places to build huts and forts. One time I remember it raining and hailing so hard that water and hail were racing down our little trail and into our camp. Cody and I were all wet and when it stopped raining we built a fire to dry off. Our socks were hanging from sticks next to the flames. We both got a little too close to the fire ourselves, and singed our little eyebrows and eyelashes right off.

I loved being able to sleep on the bunk of the trailer, and listening to my dad chop wood early in the morning. And, I love this pic of my Dad.

So much fun! Hope this song brings a little sunshine to your day today!
