This is what I felt like this morning when I woke up.
Here's why.
Time: 3:00 AM
Aiden: (In a whiny voice and standing right next to me, his face next to mine while I'm sleeping) Mom....I had an accident.
Me: (Thinking to myself) I have no idea what time it is, but I can not open my eye lids. They are too heavy. Maybe if I just lay here and not say anything he'll just go back to sleep.
Aiden: Mom...I need you. I need new jammies.
Me: (Still silent) I am too tired to get up. Maybe if I just lay here long enough Thomas will get up and help him.
Aiden: Psst. Mom. I getting cold. I get in your bed, k? Mommy, wake up!
Me: Finally get out of bed. Too tired to go upstairs and get new pajamas. Walk like a zombie into the hall and turn on the light so I can rummage through a clean laundry basket in our room to find some pajamas.
Aiden: Mommy, turn the light off! Its hurting my eyes.
Me: Aiden, I have to have the light on so I can find you some dry pajamas as you requested.
Finally find what I need and get Aiden's clothes changed.
Aiden: Mommy, I sleep in your bed. I so tired.
Me: Aiden, I'm tired too. Your choice is to sleep up in your bed or right here on the floor by me. I'll make you a special, cozy bed.
Aiden: No, I just sleep here. That a good idea, Mom?
Me: No, Aiden. It's a bad idea. There's no room for you in here. Mommy just gets grumpy.
Aiden: Please Mom. I just stay here. Otay?
Me: Fine. Let's just go to sleep. I need you to scoot over though, there's no room for mommy.
Aiden: No Mom. I not scoot. I too tired.
Me: Aiden, please. Move over. There's no room for mommy. My big butt is hanging off the bed.
Aiden: I can't. I not brave enough.
I pick Aiden up and move him over. He scoots back.
I finally give up and just try to make myself comfortable and get some sleep before my alarm rings at 6:15.
Now, here's the final point. I'm telling this to Thomas. He laughs and says "Well, next time you should just wake me up and I'll move him over."
So here's the question of the day.
Why do Dads sleep through EVERYTHING?

I dont know why, but I know Reuben does it all the time. I keep telling him that once the baby comes Isaac is his responsibility at night! We will see if that really happens!!
Oh girl, I just don't know what to say! First, when Maggie was waking up, we thought we were having sleepless nights. Then we had the twins!! Andy said to me this morning "yeah, I heard you get up with them this morning. It's been a long time since I've heard you." Whatever!
I am feeling for you...I just want to once...sleep in...remember sleeping in until 11am ?
LOL! I'm sorry, but now you know what I go through almost every night! Hyrum has a big problem wetting the bed even though he wears pull-ups to bed. This morning he actually woke up dry though and came to the side of my bed to wake me up. Even though it was 8:00am I wasn't ready to get out of bed since just minutes before I set Jonah back in his bed after having "slept" upright for the past couple of hours. Needless to say I now have a huge head and neck ache. Oh the joys of parenthood! It's a wonder we manage to function on such little sleep!
haha I was laughing so hard when I read that! Aiden is such a nut! It's true though, men have some special power to sleep through everything. I hate when Kenny has to get up early, because I have to wake him up to turn off his alarm clock! Good luck tonight :)
I am consistently amazed at what Jason can sleep through. In our last place, our bedroom was right next to a shared driveway. Our neighbors were a sort of old-school "scooter gang" and one night they had a umm...*rally* in the driveway on a week-night at like 2am - revving their little mosquito-engines right by our heads. Jason totally slept through the whole thing, leaving me to go out bleary-eyed in my bathrobe and tell them to go away.
Have you been reading my journal?
Hi Kris. You are so creative. We had a great time at Lake Powell, but I wish you could have been there with us. Camping by the Madsen's was fun. You are lucky to have 2 cool families. Cody
Hi! I just noticed that you had a blog from your link on FB... yeah! I love blogs. I have our "Carlson Clan" one listed on my profile on facebook too. Ok, from this story I am so not looking forward to potty training. You are nicer than me. I put them back in there bed or on the sofa. They don't even get the option of my floor *lol* Todd can sleep through a train wreck... although the other night he heard Austin crying before me... werid :S
this killed me, you are so funny. Stephen has figured out how to word his morning greetings very carefully to me and not include the phrase "so, did you have to get up last night?". That just kills the whole day for him- he has no chance after that.
