The Secret to Obedience

Last week Aiden was almost perfect at being obedient, being a good helper, sharing his things and doing what he was told the first time we asked him.

Why, you ask, is he such an angel child? How did we get so lucky? Let me guess...you're thinking we are miracle parents and want to know the secret, don't you?

Well my friends. The truth is we can't take much credit for anything, really. We are not miracle parents at all. In fact, we're pretty average I'd say. But I will let you in on the secret.

A Day Out With Thomas the Tank Engine.

Yes, this event was our bribe for a whole week and let me just say it worked like a charm. Aiden waited with much anticipation all week to attend this glorious event. He knew he had to obey and behave and the minute we threatened to send those tickets back he snapped to it in a flash.

I'll admit, I'm a little sad that I don't have something to bribe him with this week. But, he had such a fun day. As a parent it was just as exciting to see his enthusiasm for the one thing he as LOVED since he was just a baby.
When we first arrived it was like he was in shock, there were so many trains and Thomas the Tank Engine characters that he couldn't focus. Running from one thing to the next and then back over and over again.

The highlight of the trip was taking a ride on some coaches, pulled by the one and only Thomas, the cheeky little engine.
I keep wondering if Aiden will ever get bored of trains. But for now, they are still his passion. He knows all of their names. He memorizes some of their lines from the DVDs and then when he plays trains he uses those lines in his play conversations. He carts those little trains around everywhere we go.

We had a great day with Thomas, but now that it's come and gone I'm wondering...what's the next thing I can use to help him learn obedience with a smile. :)

Oh, what a fun day. Those pictures are adorable--but then, how could you take a less adorable picture when you have such a cutie pie!!!

I was wondering when the Day with Thomas was happening. I'm so gald he had such a fun time! I think Jonah is going to be a Thomas fan too. Not only is it his middle name, but since we already have a train table for Hyrum, guess who plays with it more. Yup, Jonah is always there pushing the little engines around. Just today in fact while we were playing at the park someone had left a little train on the edge of the sandbox and he went over to it and started pushing it around and said "BBBBBMMMMM!" It was too cute! I don't remember Hyrum ever doing that so young! It's funny how kids pick their passions. I'm still wondering how long the Princess facination will last. HMMMMMM! If only Cinderella was a conductor, maybe Hyrum would like his trains more!

So how do you think I could do this with two 4 month olds so they will sleep through the night? Maybe put a little chocolate syrup in their bottle?

It's good to do this now while Aiden is young because his wish list isn't so high. We'd have to do this with some place like Disneyland!
