Grey Clouds

The grey clouds have started to roll in.

And I think they are affecting my ability to think straight. It has to be that, otherwise, I just don't know what to blame my forgetfulness on.

A few days ago we had to have exams for a life insurance policy we're working on. We were out the door first thing in the morning and drove to the appointment. I walked into the exam room and the nurse asked for my ID. That's when I realized I forgot my purse, and had to reschedule the appointment for the next day.

So, the next day arrived. This time I made sure I had my wallet and purse and drove back up to the exam office. I arrived, and made a big deal about remembering my ID this time. I went back to the exam room. The nurse asked for my ID, and I gingerly opened up my wallet and started to look for my ID. Didn't see it the first pass through. But sometimes it hides between a few other cards, so I pulled out all of my cards and went through each one of them, one by one.

No ID.

Great. And what was even worse, was that I had absolutely no idea where my driver's license was, since I'd obviously been driving around for weeks thinking it was in my wallet!

The nurse said a passport would work too, and thankfully I knew where my passport was, so I decided to give Dr. Tom a call and see if he could bring it to me. And that's when I realized I also forgot my phone.

Completely embarrassed, I walked back up to the front desk and asked the secretary if I could use her phone to make a call. I mean....who has to ask to use a phone these days? Everyone has a cell phone...except for me. So I call Dr. Tom and explain the situation and lucky for me, everyone in the front office hears my conversation. So embarrassing.

Luckily Dr. Tom saved me; he happened to know where my driver's license was. He brought it up and I was able to proceed with the exam.

But the forgetfulness doesn't end there.

Later that day I needed to run a few errands downtown and the only time I had to get this done was around 4 pm...right at the beginning of rush hour. We got in the car and made our way downtown amid all of the traffic. And because there are so many one-way streets to took forever to make our way to where we needed to go. We were nearly there when I realized I forgot my purse, and Dr. Tom forgot his wallet...so we had no way of paying for what was needed.

Great. Our forgetfulness really paid off this time. We spent all that time getting downtown and had to just turn around and come back home.

I hope my two days of forgetfulness was just a one-time incident or I'm in big trouble for the rest of the rainy season which is about to come upon us. I snapped the picture at the top of this post earlier this evening. For a short while this afternoon a little bit of sun broke through the clouds. I hope it's a good sign that my ability to remember isn't going to be cloudy all winter, and that it will break through like that little ray of sunshine.

I'm so sorry for a rough couple of days! Send those clouds this way, would ya? We would LOVE some cooler temps...100(+) degrees is getting old!

The clouds were affecting me too that day, I'm so glad we had a super sunny day today! What a treat for the end of September! You'll have to ask Dr. Tom about what sort of phychological research has been done with forgetfullness and cloudy weather...depression ties in there too somewhere I'm sure. And what's up with the billboard I saw that says that the NW has the highest # of people with MS than anywhere else. These are some interesting correlations!
