Thumbs Down, Puyallup

We ponied up and went to the Puyallup State Fair last week. And the only good things to say about the fair experience was in this order:

1. We got a front row parking spot
2. Excellent corn on the cob
3. Very cool "hobbies" exhibits
4. This picture. I was surprised at how cool it turned out because I just pointed the camera and snapped without looking in the view finder.

I've set a mental reminder to not go to the fair on a Saturday next year. Too crowded. Too many people. Too many people waiting in line for rides. Too hard to push the stroller through crowds of people who walk slower than tar. Too much traffic. Too much whining...Aiden refused to eat everything but blue cotton candy.
Plus, Thomas was ticked at me because I had made plans to go on a Saturday afternoon without consulting the football calendar first. So he missed the televised BYU-UCLA game. He was a real honey to put on a smile and come with us.

Since it wasn't a knock-out day that's all I have to say about it. So dear reader, if you're looking for a laugh or some kind of rhetoric, I'm just sorry to say you won't be getting that today.
You can't make something better than it was when it wasn't that great.

I can't tell you how many times Ranger and I ponied up the time and cash to placate begging and pleading kids..."We want to go to the fair!" And it was always the same whining, fussing, too hot, too expensive, too crowded, REPEAT. Yet we still went 7 of the 8 years we lived there. What's wrong with us?

I can't believe that Thomas did not stay home and watch the game! That is a huge sacrifice. But we did decide last week that Andy will not watch the game live because he's too cranky if he gets interrupted.
We don't do the fair for all the reasons you listed.

So sorry you guys had a lame time at the Fair. Just remember if you go next year to try it on an overcast weekday, you'll find it much more relaxing and less crowded. Just bring a sweatshirt and you'll be great despite the cool weather.
