The reason why this next song has captured the coveted #3 spot is because it reminds me of HOME, and so many good times growing up in a little town.
It seems like every time I hear this one, my mind thinks of home, the people I love, and the many memories I share with them. Here's just a few...
- No one is a better captain of the Sea Clusion than my Grandpa Jack. Here he is all decked out with his swimming suit and boots. No Tevas or Birkenstocks for this cowboy...even at Lake Powell. :)
- Irrigating with my Dad in the early evening hours. There's nothing like this! The fresh, crisp air...the smell of freshly cut hay...the sound of water trickeling down the furrows...the hiss of sprinkler lines off in the distance. Peaceful.
- Dragging Main and hanging out at Lunds Drive-In.
- Early morning cheer practice.
- Playing cards with Grandma Delma at Lake Powell. By the way, all of my Grandparents are 80 and are still going to Lake Powell with us. I hope I'm as adventerous some day as they are.
- Water fights and other mischevious things at Lake Powell. One year we were at the Marina and one of my cousins put some Alkaseltzer in the water for the carp to eat. They swallowed them right up and pretty soon fizz and bubbles started pouring out of their gills. It was hilarious until a park ranger came by.
- The 4th of July celebration at good old Gunnison City Park, where everybody's in the parade and my Grandpas fry the hamburgers every year.
- The Sanpete County Fair. Demolition Derby. Mutton Bustin'. 'Nuff said.
- Weapons Carrier rides and nigger toe fights in the mountains. Okay, so I'm debating whether I should have even said that, since I know it's not policitcally correct. But, that's what we called them and I'm not changing the name. After all, this is MY blog. So if you're unhappy about this one send me a comment about it.
- Working on 4-H projects. I think my 4th year sewing project is still waiting to be finished in a closet somewhere.....
- Summer nights just hanging out on the deck at my parent's house. Love it.
If you're made it this far, thanks for reading along. Have a great 4th of July and an awesome summertime! :)
