I Teared Up Over This

Aiden shared his first talk in primary today.

I was sitting in the back of the room and his class had not come into the room yet, so when he came in he didn't see me. He walked right in and sat down on his chair, just as reverent and sweet as could be. He folded his arms during the prayer and held so still. Yes, I was peeking.

Sitting there, singing one of my favorites, I'm Trying to Be Like Jesus, his legs not quite long enough to touch the ground, his feet were swinging back and forth while he sang. And it hit me. My baby was old enough to give a talk in primary. And that's when the tears welled up and rolled down my cheeks.

Aiden is a shy little sweetheart, so I had to help him get through the whole thing, but he stood up at the pulpit with me while I shared the talk and he was able to muster out at the very end, "Amen!"

Of course, he had no problem marching up to the pulpit and grinning for a picture after everyone left the room and Primary was over.

We displayed this picture as we shared Aiden's first talk:

This is a picture of me and my Grampy.
He likes trains just like me.
When he was 21 he was baptized.
He was the only member of his family to be baptized.
My Grampy is a good example to me.
He goes to church.
He honors his priesthood.
He reads the scriptures.
He prays every day.
When I am eight, I can follow the example of Jesus Christ and my Grampy and be baptized and confirmed a member of our church.
I will be able to show my faith by following my Grampy's example.
Aiden, I love you and am so proud of you. Your Grampy exemplifies Christlike attributes in everything that he does. He is a good example for you to follow and learn from as you grow and gain life experience. Always remember how blessed you are to have Grandpas who are concerned with the things of the Lord, who are faithful in everything they do and who love you and want you to always follow the Savior.

How sweet! Wow these guys sure grow up fast! I'm so glad Aiden is enjoying Sunbeams. I can't wait until Hyrum is able to advance.

Oh, Kristyn, you made me tear up, also. WOW!! He is growing up so much!!! I substituted in Primay, yesterday, what a difference than dealing with the young women. But, what a great spirit that surrounds those young ones!!

What a great experience for everyone! I keep looking at Care Bear and thinking about how she will be a Sunbeam soon. I pity her teacher! LOL

I have to say these little sunbeams are my favorite part of being in Primary. Aiden is a very well behaved little guy. :)

You made me tear up too :). But I've been in that "so sad babies grow up so fast" mood all week, with Phoebe's birthday coming up next month. Glad to see you're doing well!
