Six Surprises

For anyone who is married, you know that there are always some surprises about your spouse that for some reason, were never discovered when you're dating. They are only revealed after you've been married and you slowly discover them one by one...

While it's true Dr. Tom and I have both had our share of discoveries in this department, there happens to be a list of good surprises....things I never would have known, even we would have dated for years. Pleasant surprises, they are.
In celebration of six wonderful years here are six wonderful surprises I've learned about my dear husband:

1. Dr. Tom is a perfectionist when it comes to folding laundry. You'd think he'd worked at the GAP for 50 years. Everything is so neatly folded and compressed tightly so it doesn't wrinkle or unfold. I love looking into a laundry basket with perfectly folded clothes. And you should see my linen closet with towels, every single one folded to perfection. Impressive!

2. Dr. Tom makes a mean macaroni and cheese. Yes, it's out of the box but he has a way of making it taste so much better.

3. Now I knew he was smart, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Thanks to him, I can actually have an intelligent conversation about politics. I think his next endeavor is to get me to speak intelligently about psychology. That might be a stretch.

4. This is a guy who has an enormous amount of patience. I guess that's why we're good together; he makes up for all of the patience I lack.

5. I knew he was good with kids, but there's nothing that compares to watching your husband interact with your own children. Watching Dr. Tom interact with Aiden has brought me more joy than I could ever express in writing.

6. I knew his family didn't have a dishwasher when he was growing up; but little did I know he'd be my continuous little dishwasher now. I guess all those years of practice is paying off. Our little cottage lacks an electric dishwasher and he's done an incredible job keeping up with so many dishes. Our kitchen is almost shining thanks to him.

Dr. Tom, you know how much I love you. Thanks for being you and for being mine. I look forward to the days ahead, discovering more of your hidden gems. Happy Anniversary.

XOXOXO,

Onebrilliantgirl
